Reactions vary: The individual response to such a sting will vary from person to person. The localized swelling & pain is a response to injected foreign proteins. It is a protective body response to isolate the material & stop/slow its entry into the system. Once the swelling is there it may take several days for it to subside. A cold compress may help with the discomfort.
