A member asked:

I got a bee sting on the top of my finger and 1 day later my hand is swelling up. is this normal? how can i get the swelling down?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Diphenhydramine: A day has passed, which tells me you are not experiencing a life threatening allergy (it does happen, called anaphylaxis). If having breathing difficulty see an md, otherwise make sure stinger is out, and take 25-50 mg of Diphenhydramine (otc benadryl), it is very good at reducing swelling due to allergy. It will make you drowsy, so be aware. Good luck!
