New babies have: Newborn babies have odor-free anuses. Well, they actually have the aroma of a new baby. For the rest of us mere mortals, the anus should have to normal odor of a little poop, skin sweat, skin bacteria and yeast, skin oils, bath soap... that's about it. If there is tissue damage or inflammation, odors can become worse or unusual, and need a doctor's exam to figure out what the problem might be.

Anal odor: If you're staining your underwear from seepage of feces you may have a weak anal sphincter or some rectal pathology. If no staining, complete your anal hygiene after wiping with toilet paper by using a soft cloth and warm water until clean and then pat dry. You may apply a lotion with aloe in it. This removes traces of feces from crypts within the anus and may solve the odor problem.
