A member asked:

I had a abdominal and pelvic ct scan today and i am afraid of getting cancer? does the ct scan have a lot of radiation and is there high risk for cancer?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No. No worries.: Patients get CT scans all over the world, every day. As long as there is a good reason for the scan, it is fine to do. If repeated scans are planned, to follow some sort of serious illness, a patient can ask his doctor what other options there are, in order to decrease the total number of scans in his lifetime. Having many repeated CT scans, over and over, can add up to too much x-ray exposure.
