A member asked:

My hbsag negative but anti hbc posative and hbsab negative. if this resolved hbv why hbsab negative.lft little high.is it occult hbv?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe. Maybe not.: Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) negative means the lab did not find the virus's outer surface particles. His Hepatitis B surface antibody (anti-HBs) negative means he does not have protection against the virus. Anti-HBc positive puts him in the inconclusive category that has about four possible explanations. Good to read: https://www.racgp.org.au/afp/2012/april/hepatitis-b-serology/
