A member asked:

I have a lump that has developed on my upper sternum which is very sensitive to touch and is painful when pressure is applied to that area of the chest .. can you tell me what it could be... ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Doctor can check: A lump on the chest wall can be from the skin, the muscles, the lymph nodes, the ribs, etc... The best person to see first is the primary care doctor, who can then refer to a specialist if he is not able to diagnose and solve the problem. A lump can be a cyst, a lymph node, an infected oil gland in the skin, a skin abscess, etc... A recurring infection in a "cyst" may need surgical removal.
