Doctor can examine: One's primary care doctor can examine the head to see what might be itching. Common causes include dandruff, dry skin, other rashes, head lice, etc... The head is everything above the neck, so there are other parts of the head in addition to the scalp. A doctor's exam should be able to figure out the problem. Also, anything worn on or touching the head and containing wool, can cause itching.
