Cerebral atrophy: There's no way to know without a lot more information. There are many causes of cerebral (brain) atrophy, including Alzheimer's disease, strokes, past or current infections including HIV, and others. Prognosis for reversal or progression depend on the cause, treatment, and how severe it is now. These are things to discuss with the doctor(s) caring for the affected person. Good luck.
