Crippling anxiety : You have taken steps to reduce your anxiety but it still interferes with your life. Either psychotherapy or pharmacotherapy are indicated at this point. Ideally both. Your primary care provider may be able to refer to a psychotherapist or offer medication as treatment. An antidepressant would be a first line approach. Anxiolytics, like Xanax, are best avoided initially as they are habit forming.
