Hemorrhoids: Apply cool compresses. Avoid hard stools by taking stool softener, drinking adequate fluids, and eating enough fiber. For treatment consult a proctologist or colorectal surgeon. External hemorrhoids can be removed by banding procedure in the office when deemed advisable by the specialist.
