A member asked:

What is it called when tissure or muscles start to break down?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Atrophy: I think what you are referring to is tissue atrophy. This is when there is a lack of use of a body part and the tissue begins to atrophy (or "breakdown"). So if someone is paralyzed then their leg muscles start to atrophy (get smaller and smaller) due to the lack of use.
