140 days ago i had one day of light brown spotting. 70 days later i had a true period. this week i had another day of very light brown spotting does spotting count as a period in countdown to menopause or do i discount spotting?

This can count: however, reviewing your history and examination, possibly blood testing, with your doctor, could be very helpful. Bleeding as you describe could be the conclusion of perimenopausal issues, or it could be abnormal uterine bleeding, requiring evaluation/testing to prove no abnormal cells.
