Hard to predict: After having 2-3 days of flu symptoms, a person is still quite contagious. It is hard to tell when a person is not contagious, because that varies from case to case, and because the viruses decrease over a few days (they don't all die at exactly one moment in time). The safer thing to do is to avoid spreading viruses (avoid touching others, or sneezing or coughing at others) for over a week.

Some basics: Flu is considered contagious for a minimum of seven days from the start of symptoms whether they are treated or not. Transmission is from saliva or airborne if coughing.
