Surgery recovery: After major surgery like an ileostomy you can count on a week or two of pain needing some medication and "babying" yourself. After a month you should be quite functional. It may take three to four months to feel just fine.... . Of course adjusting to an ileostomy is quite a process in addition to the recovery from the surgery itself.
