No risk, no worry: Syphilis of the central nervous system or CSF always gives positve blood tests. On very rare occasions, it might be present with negative VDRL, but never with negative TPHA. With those negative results, you do not need spinal tap or any other evaluation for neurosyphilis. Even if you have typical neurosyphilis symptoms, something else is the cause. Check with STD or infectious diseases specialist.
