As long as it takes: Of the 7 or so strains of HPV associated with cervical cancer there is going to be variation among individuals. The individuals strain/immune system/ genetic factors will all play into emergence of pre-cancer or cancer changes. The best plan is to work with your OBGYN on screening frequency based on your factors. Think years to decades if ever in the possible time frame.
