Mirena IUD: Although Mirena IUD's contain progesterone, your periods will be essentially like they were prior to oral bcp's. The amount of progesterone in Mirena will not suppress ovarian estrogen production, and fluctuations of estrogen production will sometimes increase acne. Best may be to stay on low dose oral bcp's for better control of acne.
