A member asked:

Can a viral flu cause cough with phlegm ? or is it some other reason

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Viral upper respiratory tract infections cause sore throat and cough. The mucus, in the beginning, can be yellowish but gradually clears over the next several days. If, instead, the mucus becomes deeper in color and more copious as the days progress, complication by a bacterial infection would then be suspected.
