Period vs. ovulation: If your "period" was a normal length (4-5 days) it is not ovulation bleeding. Mild bleeding can occur with ovulation, but lasts only a few hours or so. If pregnancy is possible, wait a week and obtain a serum HCG test to be certain. If positive, you may have conceived prior to this episode, and if the bleeding was more than a day, it may indicate an ectopic pregancy, so see your gyn asap.
