A member asked:

What does this mean on a mri report there is hypertrophy and surface irregularity of the patellar articular cartilage?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Big and not smooth: The cartilage sounds thicker than usual and the surface, which is usually a smooth line, might appear wavy or lumpy. Both of these signs may be a reaction to some inflammation or irritation in that area. It is not a disease or condition. Based on your history and symptoms, your doctor may have a diagnosis and a way to manage this. Good luck
