Hello. i gave birth at 24 weeks eight days ago and my baby is in the nicu. the doctor tells me he has damaged lungs. i wanted to find out if do lungs repair itself or it cannot be helped?

Your infant will be assisted with respiratory devices and eventually steroids to decrease the problems of pre-maturity. This may require a long time in the NICU, but with concentrated efforts, the lungs will gradually improve.
