Yellow mucus: These characteristics are seen with increased fat content in bowel movements because of malabsorption which occurs in various disorders like celiac disease,liver, pancreatic and gall bladder pathology and certain gastrointestinal tract infections. In the latter case the stool gradually returns to normal as the infection resolves. The other causes are serious issues needing medical evaluation
