Had a cultural test and got (profuse gardnerella vaginalis and mild normal flora isolated). what does it mean? how to treat it? how did it happen?

Bacterial vaginitis: is the diagnosis, this occurs when gardnerella, overgrows above it's normal amount. This causes the symptoms of vaginitis. The cause of the change is multifactorial, such as hormonal, or stress on your immune system. Treatment is with an antibiotic metronidazole gel intravaginal, in most cases. This gel tends not to destroy beneficial lactobacili.
