Hi dr i have been battling with a cough with flem (yellow in color) for 5 weeks now and it's becoming a big concern as i get a headache of the coughs pressure and becoming short of breath lately?

See someone: The headache is caused by the increased intracranial pressure of the cough.A normal viral infection should have gotten better at the 10 days mark .Normal at times to get short of breath when in coughing fits but should not be SOB when not.Need to get examined and treated-maybe CXR,antibiotics,albuetrol,Steroids,CT scan-regardless get seen could be lungs,heart,reflux,sinus etc.5 weeks out not norm

Agree with Dr. K: Any cough lasting longer than 2 weeks needs to be evaluated by a doctor. It would be prudent to rule out tuberculosis.
