The DRYNESS: of your lower GI tract may be contributing to this constipation! Try INCREASING your fluid intake , drinking several glasses of water every few hours. Over the counter stool softeners may be of some use but WATER is the major factor. Finally, consult with your PCP or GP about the possibility that you may have IBS-C (Irritable bowel -Chronic Constipation) Hope this is helpful! Dr Z
