Hard to speculate: Every person develops their own pre-sleep ritual. How you wind down & ready yourself is an individual choice. There is no physical reason to either use or not use such a prop. If you find it helps exclude the world/distractions to help it is fine. Removing electrical devices/screen viewing for the hour before bed helps many get to sleep faster.
