Ear ache: Please go to your doctor ASAP. If infected, you do not want it to cause permanent damage. If simply ear wax build up, your doc can clean it out. Peace and good health.

Some basics: Normal hearing requires a healthy nerve and nothing preventing sound from making it inside your ear to the detection sensors. An earache suggests a buildup of fluid in the middle ear that may be infected. This transiently drops hearing on that side about 40%. An earwax plug can also reduce hearing. Most such conditions can be treated & hearing restored. Have it evaluated.
