Some basics: Mental illness is triggered by an abnormality in the functioning of the persons perception/mood/reactivity. Its potential contributing causes are numerous, but does not include any factor that can rub off or spread like a virus/germ. Think of it as a short circuit in their complex nervous system rather than a contagious disease.

No: Mental illness is not transmissible. Thought there are instances of mass hysteria, which may appear to be "contagious".
