Pain after ovulation: If ovulation occurred later than you thought, and the follicle ruptures later, the pain can be due to the rupture of a follicle (ovarian cyst). Implantation of a fertilized egg can also cause lower abdominal pain, so if your period is delayed, wait a week and obtain a serum HCG test to be certain about pregnancy.
