Diarrhea: Periods can cause diarrhea related to hormone changes in your body. The description you are giving however suggests that you may had gastroenteritis (stomach flu) which just happened to coincide with your period. It should get better on its own but if not, then see your doctor to order stool tests to see if it is bacterial and needs antibiotics. there shouldnt be blood without the period!!!
