Eustachian tube: The eustachian tube, when blocked by mucus or nasal congestion, can cause this problem. This tube runs from the back of the nose to the middle ear. Treatment is irrigating your nasal passages with warm salt water and using nasal decongestant spray properly. In case allergies are responsible, take an antihistamine like benadryl(causes drowsiness) or Claritin(nondrowsy) and use a cortisone spray.
