Exam needed: Stay calm and get an exam promptly. No need for ER unless symptoms have been prolonged or you have risk factors such as injury, stasis ( immobility) recent operation, recent air travel, family history of blood clotting disorder or personal history, use of birth control or smoking. If you feel short of breath, racing heart rate, or have risk factors, you can go to ER to rule it out
