A member asked:

How does a cbc identify inflammation or infection? just got test results. need to understand them.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Neutrophil count: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, high neutrophil count is an indicator of inflammation. However, it would help to have the complete report.
