A member asked:

I have a 2 week old daughter. there is a lump on the left side, just above her vagina. it seems to be causing discomfort, as she cried when i changed her nappy. im not sure what it is and if i should take her to the doctor?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

I would: This may represent a displaced ovary that traveled down the wrong path (hernia) or it could also be a simple lymph node or growth. If an ovary it would eventually need to be re-positioned, if a growth or node it may need other work. Kids can cry for diaper changes just because, so I wouldn't assume it causes pain.
