A member asked:

Is it normal to be on the depo, have no periods, then after 6 months still being on the depo get your periods?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depo shots: Depo-progesterone may affect your ovulation in the ways described, and create irregular ovulation, after which a period may occur. This method of birth control is not "100%" effective, so get a serum HCG test to be certain about possible pregnancy. If there are no contraindications, oral combination bcp's may give you less problems, and peace of mind.
