A member asked:

Child was exposed to chicken pox by his friend. can we vaccinate to prevent symptom and virus?

Dr. Jay Park answered

Yes but...: Vaccination within 3-5 days from exposure may prevent disease or modify the severity of disease in healthy people. If the exposed child is in immunocompromised state, however, he/she should receive varicella-zoster immune globulin as soon as possible within 10 days from exposure.
