Can be toxic: The CDC reports that Sodium hydroxide (NaOH) is very corrosive & it can cause irritation to the eyes, skin, and also mucous membrane, an allergic reaction, eye and skin burns, and temporary loss of hair. The level of harm is dependent upon the dose, duration, and work which is being done.
