BV: Bacterial vaginosis is thought to be caused by overgrowth of bad bacteria over good bacteria in the vagina. In addition to oral antibiotics like flagyl intravaginal antibiotic suppositories are prescribed. Additional measures like taking probiotics, irrigating the vaginal with hydrogen peroxide for one week has helped patients restore good bacteria. Your gynecologist can advise you best, however.
