A member asked:

Was diagnosed with bv & nothing else, antibiotic pill was ineffective. was given 5 day vaginal gel- i have chunky light brown/pink discharge? (day 2)

A doctor has provided 1 answer

BV: Bacterial vaginosis is thought to be caused by overgrowth of bad bacteria over good bacteria in the vagina. In addition to oral antibiotics like flagyl intravaginal antibiotic suppositories are prescribed. Additional measures like taking probiotics, irrigating the vaginal with hydrogen peroxide for one week has helped patients restore good bacteria. Your gynecologist can advise you best, however.
