A member asked:

Urethritis. for urethritis to exist wouldnt there be swelling, redness, or something that a cytoscopy would reveal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Cystoscopy: Cystoscopy does not always detect urethritis, since the cystoscope has a built in angle, and until the scope is actually in the bladder itself, may not clearly view the urethra. Chronic urethritis is common, especially in females, and dilation of the urethra with a Foley # 8 pediatric balloon after topical lidocaine instillation, followed by antibiotics may be curative.
