Bad chest cold: if one coughs hard and long enough, this results in strained muscles of the rib cage( the muscles of breathing/coughing). Aspirin or meds like Advil can give some pain relief but the main target should be to find and reverse the cause of your cough. Please go see your PCP and get to the bottom of this persistent cough. Then your chest will feel better. All the best.
