?what is the cause?: At your age, there is no good reason to have urinary retention? So you should ask your doctors why they placed a catheter in your bladder?. Do you have some sort of neurological ailment? For now, ask for pain medicine to relieve your pain. The catheter(Called Foley catheter) should be removed unless your bladder has paralysis of some cause... which must be investigated and treated.
