A member asked:

I feel so anxious about breast cancer. am i at a super high risk because i had children after 40? how much higher risk am i?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

BreastCA risk factor: Having a first child after age 40 is a risk factor for breast cancer as the hormone estrogen has had a long period of time to act on the breast unless oral contraceptives were used. The greater breast cancer risk factors includes most notably testing positive for the BRCA gene, history of irregular menses, obesity, radiation exposure, and exogenous unopposed estrogen use.
