Normal: Lower back pain and menstrual-like pains are typical at the end of pregnancy. The uterus is large and puts a strain on the back. The uterus also contracts now and then, and your pelvis is preparing for delivery. If the period pain becomes persistent and increases in intensity, you should be evaluated to be sure you are not going into labor early.
