Can a plastic surgeon do something for a hypertrophic scar that a dermatologist can't? i have 7 year old scarring that i want gone once and for all.

Maybe/not: The tendency to form hypertrophic scars is an individual tendency. Although a plastic surgeon may certainly have better luck during a scar revision, there is always the possibility that any revision could also be marked by a similar problem. You can certainly consult with a plastic surgeon & see what they feel what kind of result they would expect if they did the procedure.
