Radiation: That's a question you have to ask the practitioners who have ordered your imaging. It's a balance of information received vrs radiation exposure. Obviously your physician(s) feel there is enough risk indicated in your medical history to warrant the testing. As to 14-18 full mouth series Dental x-rays the levels are less than 1/10th that of a mammogram.

Get minimal X-rays: Dental x-rays especially digital x-rays use a very minimal radiation as compared to CT scan & mammograms. If you do not have major dental problems, you may restrict the number of x-rays at dental office.
