A member asked:

A few months ago, my breasts started getting sore and a bit swollen. i have noticed that it always happens just before ovulation, and it goes away again towards the end of my cycle. is this normal? i can't feel any lumps in my breasts.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Breast cyclicity: Breasts are under the influence of your female hormones, estrogen and progesterone. Prior to ovulation estrogen is dominant. After ovulation progesterone will normally cause breast tissue proliferation and swelling just prior to the end of the menstrual cycle. Keep checking your breasts after the period monthly for lumps as most are discovered by the patients themselves.
