Hard to speculate: This is something the people at the ER with their review of your history, exam and any testing would best sort out. Not a question over the net. From this vantage point it could be as simple as heartburn aggravated by the stress or complex as a heart attack. I suppose they did some work to exclude the worst possibilities before letting you go home.

Chest pains: always need to be evaluated by your doctor. Please continue to see him/her but since you have already been to the ER consider the additional factor that you had an argument w/your son. That triggers the fight-flight-freeze response in the body and can tighten muscles. Hope you and your son can come to a resolution. Peace and good health.

Need assessment: If this is how you usually reacted to stress or confrontation in the past , this may be from anxiety and even anger. However if this was the first time ever , you may need to get a cardiology evaluation even at your age especially if there is a strong family history of heart disease or diabetes.
