How many days do you need to recover after a colonyscope?

Zero: A routine colonoscopy does not require any recovery period other than giving time the same day for the anesthesia to wear off.

Varies: It can take up to a day for the full effects of the sedative to wear off after a colonoscopy. You should not drive or make important decisions or go back to work for the remainder of the day. You may feel bloated or pass gas for a few hours after the exam is complete & walking may help with this. You should call the doctor who performed the procedure if any discomfort persists or bleeding occurs.
