What are the risks involved in a hysteroscopy?

Overall very safe: A diagnostic hysteroscopy carries a small risk of uterine perforation, bleeding or infection. Operative hysteroscopy for removal of fibroids or an abnormal uterine septum(wall) carries a higher risk of perforation.

Hysteroscopy Risk: Hysteroscpic surgery in general is very safe. The risk is somewhat proportional to the extent of the surgery. The risk of removing a peanut-size polyp is far smaller than a fist-size fibroid. The main risks are perforation of the uterus and excessive absorption of the distention fluid used during the surgery.
