No: Insomnia is not its known side effect, although the'pm"part is benadryl (diphenhydramine)... Which can sometimes cause an opposite reaction(excitation instead of sedation). You can check this out by taking the regular advil(not the pm-kind).

Generally - no.: If one developed significant exacerbation of restless leg syndrome on diphenhydramine citrate that might keep them awake. Or as stated earlier - some people might experience paradoxical reaction to diphenhydramine citrate.
